The Brothers of the Lord Baltimore 364 Chapter hosted the Worthington 30 Chapter for a very large gathering of at least sixty-three (63) Brothers (25 from Lord Baltimore and 38 from Worthington) on 14 January at Saint Demetrios Church (in the Baltimore suburbs) for the New Year’s Saint Basil Bread (or Vasilopita / Βασιλόπιτα) cutting. This joint gathering has been a tradition for many years now with the blessing and cutting of the Vasilopita, followed by a meal and plenty of fellowship between the Brothers, many of which have known each other since they were youngsters growing up in the Baltimore parishes.
Father Lou Noplos of Saint Demetrios, along with Father Michael Pastrikos (Saint Nicholas retired priest), performed the ‘Vasilopita cutting service’ in the Saint Kyriaki Chapel with Chapter 30 Brother Stephanos Niktas (chanter from the Cathedral of The Annunciation) assisting them.
Brother Chapter Presidents Stephen Christ of 364 (left) and Mike Baglanis of 30 (right) passed out the pieces of the Vasilopita to all of the Brothers attending. There were two Brothers that each found a ‘Φλουρί’ (lucky coin) in their slice from the two Βασιλόπιτες.
